Configuration :: Overview

This section provides all necessary information on configuring Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic in order to make full use of your workstation.

Accessing the Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic Configuration

There are several ways to access the configuration:

• via the Windows control panel (not available for Windows 98, ME).

• via the Windows XP Security Center  - Windows« XP Service Pack 2 or higher.

• via the Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic tray icon.

• in the Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic Control Center via the menu item Extras | Configuration.

• in the Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic Control Center via the button Configuration.

Display and Handling

The display and handling of the configuration corresponds to that of the Windows Explorer. Each folder in the main directory corresponds to a module.

• If you click on the plus sign (+) next to an entry in the list, the additional configuration options contained in the list are displayed for the module. The relevant content for the selected entry is displayed on the right-hand side of the window when you click on the required element.

• Click on a minus sign (-) next to an element to minimize the selection options

Expert mode

If this option is enabled, you obtain access to all available configuration options for Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic. If the option is disabled, only greatly simplified setting options are accessible.

If the expert mode is disabled, the following index cards are available:

• Scanner :: Scan (with the options Boot sectors, Files and Memory)

• Scanner :: Scan :: Archives (with the option Scan archives)

• Guard :: Scan (with the options Scan mode (not with Windows 98, ME), Files, Drives)
